Helping kids keep their cool

Amanda Long
Published February 20, 2005

There are decals for the rockin' babe (Blondie, David Bowie, the Ramones, the Clash, Motorhead), for the pop baby (Charlie's Angels, Dukes of Hazzard, Atari, Kids in the Hall) and, for the politico baby: "Question Authority" and "I already know more than the president."

Those antidotes to cuddly-wuddly wardrobes are waiting at www.babywit.com, where AC/DC--not ABC building blocks--bedecks the onesies and cute is a four-letter word.

The sense of humor and fashion behind Babywit is founder Andrea Frost, a San Francisco mom who came up with the idea of putting retro iron-on transfers on baby clothing when she faced an endless supply of rainbow and bear combinations for her baby.

Frost has assembled a lineup of iron-transfers to rival even the best mall T-shirt store in 1983. And for the baby whose parents really want to turn heads at Gymboree, among them is one that reads "He thinks he's my daddy."

Prices are around $20. Check babywit.com.
