To clarify we are talking about Democratic Socialism like they have in most European countries, NOT authoritarian Socialism. All isms when taken to extremes have negative outcomes.
Our oligarchic capitalist system looks more like Russia and desperately needs an injection of some socialist ideals including affordable access to education and health care, stronger worker benefits and environmental protections.
Maybe then people would stop stealing meat and toothpaste? I don't know. Just a guess. Because Socialism for the wealthy with crumbs for the average American just don't fly.
The red star is the symbol for socialism in the 21st century and not the socialism run by gangster governments. We are talking about social safety net programs like Social Security, Medicare to make sure no human in our nation suffers.
Maybe we could trust the government to run these programs if the government weren't run by the wealthy. We The People.
